Robotics Australia Group visit Emerald Agricultural College RAG’s Executive Director Dr Sharna Glover and Corporate Affairs Manager Nicole Ireland today visited the Emerald Ag College – the site of the proposed Robotics Tech Park.
Meeting with Mayor Kerry Hayes, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (DAF), CHDC and local innovators Swarm Farm confirmed RAG’s view of the uniqueness of Emerald as the proposed site for the new test facility and innovation precinct.
“It was great to visit the Emerald Ag College today and meet with so many supportive local stakeholders,” Dr Glover said.
“Emerald is ideally suited for the new Emerald Tech Park, due to its proximity to agriculture and mining activities and the CQ Inland Port. It is also situated close to defence activities at Shoalwater Bay.
“We hope this will be a sustainability project that will repurpose the existing facilities at the former Emerald Agricultural College site.
“There is a growing innovation culture in the region, including the existing advanced manufacturing corridor in Queensland and a complementary Queensland State-funded Smart Cropping Centre innovation project which will be co-located our RoboFactory project.
“Importantly, the RoboFactory will support new training pathways to prepare the regional workforce for the jobs of the future and provide education and upskilling opportunities to equip workers in agriculture and mining with Industry 4.0 relevant skills,” Dr Glover said.
RAG is preparing an MMI Collaboration grant submission for the development of the RoboFactory which includes the proposed new Emerald Tech Park
