Join us for a panel discussion on underwater robots. Our esteemed panellists are Ken Chadda, CEO and Founder of YellowFin Robotics, Ruth Patterson, Prof Stefan Williams and Adam Chadok, CEO and founder of MetaSpatial Solutions.
Ken represents YellowFin Robotics, a Melbourne based robotic integration Company. The Company specialises in IP development and integration of client driven automation solutions with an over-arching operating system catering to a client’s specific need. YellowFIN R&D has been successful in delivering projects for Solar and Logistics Industry stake-holders with bespoke robotic automation. Notable IP development has been in way of a high pressure cleaning solution for solar panels using a drone. Ken also brings with him a 25 year experience as a Ship Captain and an intrinsic knowledge of the maritime environment and industry. He was an active contributor to The Robotics Roadmap of Australia 2021.
Ruth Patterson is an oceanographer based in Darwin, specialising in remote oceanographic observing systems and maritime robotics in northern Australia. Ruth has 15 years of experience working across industry, government, academia and Defence, and has an astute understanding of how each sector uses oceanographic data. Ruth is an honorary co-lead for the development of a community of practice for a global network of Uncrewed Surface Vessels, under a UN Ocean Decade Program, the ‘Observing Air-Sea Interaction Strategy’ (OASIS). She hosts a monthly webinar alongside colleagues from the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the University of Gothenburg. Ruth submitted her PhD in June this year, and is currently consulting with Elysium EPL, Charles Darwin University and EcOz under her own company, Entira Oceans. Ruth is passionate about driving forward the applied solutions that maritime robotics can bring to the Top End, Australia and the world.
Adam Chadok has been leading start ups and corporate geospatial technology firms for over twenty years, with experience in the full cycle of innovative solution delivery from initial consultation and definition, through to design, implementation and commercialisation. His technical background is complemented by business integration and leadership skills, and extensive experience in implementing and creating unique solutions. His passion is sharing knowledge of spatial, survey and geospatial technologies to solve real world challenges, drive innovations and create sustainable solutions to benefit next generations.
Stefan Williams is a Professor of Marine Robotics at the University of Sydney. Professor Williams' research in the field of marine robotics is enhancing our ability to document, understand and thus protect our deep-water marine habitats. His current focus is on the development and deployment of autonomous underwater vehicles whose visual and acoustic sensors can gather data for the purpose of generating high-resolution 3D models of underwater marine environments.
"My research focuses mainly on the development of techniques for high-resolution mapping of marine habitats. This work uses a combination of visual and acoustic sensors to generate detailed, three-dimensional models of underwater environments using data collected by autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).
